Surin Beach tourist info centre opens in Phuket

Nearly 100 travel agents and media from 11 Asia Pacific countries have travelled to Thailand’s Khao Yai National Park this week for a promotional event organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).

To commemorate the 2,600th anniversary of the Lord Buddha attaining enlightenment, Nakhon Phanom province, Wat Phrathat Phanom Woramahawihan, the Council of Northeastern Monks, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (Tat) and Buddhadasa Indapanno Archives will host religious ceremonies and activities at Wat Phrathat Phanom this weekend.

The new Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Phuket Office, Chanchai Doungjit, feels confident about the industry’s future.

The Tourism Council of Thailand is expecting one million additional international tourists in 2012 than first predicted by the Tourism Authority of Thailand.

For the calendar year 2011, the Tourism Authority of Thailand has revealed that a record number of 917,832 Indians travelled to Thailand in comparison to 791,185 in 2010, making it the number one destination for Indians with a growth rate in excess of 16% in 2011.

To prepare the “Year of MICE 2013″ campaign in Chiang Mai, the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) along with tourism and business associations as well as government agencies in the province will brainstorm at an MICE summit in November.
