Nok Air to fly from Chiang Mai to Hat Yai

Nok Air is to link Chiang Mai and Hat Yai with a new daily jet service to exploit a travel market opportunity overlooked by other airlines.

The budget carrier will become the first airline to provide a non-stop scheduled service between the northern and southern cities.

Nok Air last week announced it will add more frequency on its domestic routes throughout December and January.

Supporting the launch of a daily Chumporn service, 1 October, Nok Air is selling discounts at hotels and restaurants in Chumporn to passengers booking tickets.

Nok Air joins with the  Zoological Park Organisation to offer its passengers who fly to Chiang Mai free entry to Chiang Mai Zoo. The promotion is valid from September this year through to 31 August next year.

Nok Air will link Chiang Mai in the North and Hat Yai in the South from 1 January 2013 doubling the available capacity on the route.

Malaysia Airlines, Qantas and Nok Air are selling special fares at the Thai International Travel Fair at Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre up until Sunday 19 August.

 In addition to new routes and frequencies, announced earlier this month, Nok Air says it will launch more flights effective this August and September.

Nok Air is shifting into high gear to expand its all-domestic network to take advantage of increased capacity after it takes delivery of seven new aircraft.

Nok Air will receive seven more aircraft during the remainder of the year that will be used to add new destinations and frequencies.

National carrier Thai Airways is working on plans with its sister budget airline Nok Air to launch a new low-cost airline by the middle of next year, with a focus on the regional market.
