Don Muang airport to start draining flood water Tuesday : AoT

Suvarnabhumi Airport on November 14th, 2011

The construction of ‘Big Bags’ at Don Mueang Airport was expected to be completed on November 15 before draining of floodwater from the airport would begin.

Repair work would take around 60 days before the airport could reopen, said Airports of Thailand (AoT) chairman ACM Sumet Photimanee.

Airport halts flights amid Bangkok flooding

www.euronews.net Bangkok's second airport has closed amid Thailand's worst flooding in half a century. Don Muang airport, used mostly for domestic services, halted operations as water levels were making access difficult for passengers and staff. The site in the north of the capital is expected to reopen on November 1. The international airport elsewhere in Bangkok is still open but at Don Muang, which has been used as an evacuation centre, the runways are empty.
