Asia’s top island resort destination and second-home of choice for millionaires and billionaires around the world, is set to showcase top global boat brands at the ninth Phuket International Boat Show (PIMEX), which will take place 29 March to 1st April 2012 at the award-winning marina and lifestyle destination, Royal Phuket Marina.

Thailand was named the “Asia’s Most Popular Destination” for ninth year in a row by Go Asia, a marketing network that specialises in marketing Asia as a destination for travellers.

Thailand was again named the “Most Popular Destination” and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) was honoured as the “Best Asian Tourism Board” by Go Asia, at the International Tourism Exchange (ITB) Berlin 2012, the world’s leading B2B platform for the travel and tourism industry. This is the ninth year in a row that members of Go Asia have chosen Thailand as Asia’s most popular destination, and the fourth year in a row that they have also recognised the TAT as the best Asian tourism board.

Switzerland Tourism hosted a road show in Thailand signaling its intention to focus on Asian markets as travel declines within the Eurozone.

This Thursday (22nd) Thai Airways International (THAI) is set to be the first airline in Asia to fly a commercial passenger flight using biofuels to support the Company’s Travel Green initiative which is part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.

THAI will operate the first passenger biofuels flight on December 22nd from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. Passengers will consist of 100 students and professors who have been invited to join the special flight. Revenues from the journey will go towards developing renewable energy in Thailand.

Located on the west coast of Thailand’s and home to several national
parks, Krabi has never been marketed as a tourist destination as
aggressively as Phuket, which lies directly to its west. Over the last
10 years, it has been discovered by Westerners but the tourist and local
authorities feel the province could be drawing many more visitors,
especially from Asia and Australia.

Chiang Mai is making a renewed effort to bolster its tourism industry by targeting more tourists from emerging markets such as China and India.

The northern province offers a wide variety of tourism products for both the leisure and the meetings and incentive markets, most recently Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2011, which runs from Nov 9 to Feb 15.

Sansern Ngaorungsi, the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s deputy governor for Asia and the South Pacific, said the TAT was trying to increase the number of direct flights to Chiang Mai from China.
