This is the ninth year in a row that members of Go Asia have chosen Thailand as Asia’s most popular destination, and the fourth year in a row that they have also recognised the TAT as the best Asian tourism board.

Thai Airways to operate first passenger biofuel flight in Asia

This Thursday (22nd) Thai Airways International (THAI) is set to be the first airline in Asia to fly a commercial passenger flight using biofuels to support the Company’s Travel Green initiative which is part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.

THAI will operate the first passenger biofuels flight on December 22nd from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. Passengers will consist of 100 students and professors who have been invited to join the special flight. Revenues from the journey will go towards developing renewable energy in Thailand.

Chiang Mai to lure Chinese

Chiang Mai is making a renewed effort to bolster its tourism industry by targeting more tourists from emerging markets such as China and India.

The northern province offers a wide variety of tourism products for both the leisure and the meetings and incentive markets, most recently Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2011, which runs from Nov 9 to Feb 15.

Sansern Ngaorungsi, the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s deputy governor for Asia and the South Pacific, said the TAT was trying to increase the number of direct flights to Chiang Mai from China.

Record Fleet expected at 25th anniversary Phuket King’s Cup Regatta
